Shelter House Reservations
The South and East shelter houses are available to reserve for events. Please call 913-804-6120 or 913-804-6130 to reserve a shelter house.
Camping Information
Camping at Atchison County Lake is free and first come, first serve. There is primitive camping only. Two pit toilets are available (one near the south shelter house and another at the east shelter house). The camping area on the northeast corner of the lake will be a camping by permission only area. Reservations to camp in this area may be made by calling the Atchison County Road & Bridge Department at 913-804-6120. Please call the Road & Bridge Department for more information regarding camping. Please leave a voicemail if there is no answer and we will return your call as soon as possible. For emergencies, please contact Atchison County Dispatch at 913-367-4323 or call 911.
Resolution No. 1266
Resolution rescinding Resolution No. 1120 requiring permits for camping at Atchison County Lake.
Whereas, The Board of County Commissioners of Atchison County wishes to revise Resolution No. 1174 requiring permits for camping at the Atchison County Lake and to prohibit the consumption of cereal malt beverage or alcohol at certain times;
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of Atchison County that Resolution Now. 1174 is hereby rescinded and hereby makes the following substitute provisions:
Section 1 - Definition:
A. Camping is defined as remaining overnight at the Atchison County Lake property after 12:00 Midnight
B. Cereal Malt Beverage is as defined at K.S.A 41-2701 (a)
C. Alcoholic Liquor is as defined at K.S.A 41-102 (b)
Section 2. No one under eighteen (18) years of age shall remain after midnight unless accompanied by an adult.
Section 3. It shall be unlawful for any person to consume Cereal Malt Beverages or Alcoholic Liquor between 12:00 Midnight and 7:00 A.M. at the Atchison County Lake property.
Section 4. No camper is authorized to keep any property or remain at the Atchison County Lake for more than five (5) consecutive days.
Section 5. Any person cited by a Law Enforcement Officer for violation of any of the provisions of this Resolution or any laws of the State of Kansas may be required to immediately vacate the Atchison County Lake Property.
